IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTES:
✔ Block wheels before removal or installation service to prevent vehicle movement.
✔ If air is available, apply air to the emergency inlet to release the spring before installing or removing the release bolt and washer.
✔ If air is not available, install the release bolt and washer with a hand wrench until the internal stop is contacted to compress and hold the emergency springs.
✔ Disconnect air lines, remove mounting hardware, and handle the unit carefully due to its approximate 50 lb weight.
✔ Use only a press meeting the required minimum dimensions and apply slow, light, firm pressure during disassembly and reassembly to avoid damaging the unit.
✔ Sealing surfaces must be completely free of dust, grease, and oil before applying sealing compound. Do not allow sealing compound on the outer lip of the packing cup.
✔ Allow sealing compound beneath the retainer ring to set for at least 8 hours before assembling the piston into the cylinder.
✔ Lubricate all specified bores, seal grooves, and O-rings with the supplied lubricant during reassembly.
✔ Torque service and emergency chamber cap screws to 100–125 in-lb. Over-tightening can strip cap screw threads.
✔ Replace the service filter with the new filter supplied in the service kit.
✔ After removing the release bolt, install the rubber plug into the release bolt hole to prevent contaminants from entering through an unfiltered passage.
✔ Adjust brakes to vehicle specifications so actuator stroke is as short as possible and brake shoes do not drag.
✔ Confirm the brake adjuster is approximately 90 degrees to the push rod when fully applied and adjusted.
✔ Test full brake operation before removing wheel blocks.
