Caliper Installation & Troubleshooting — Quick Guide
Before installation:
- Replace both calipers and both pads on the axle to avoid uneven operation.
- Do not reuse worn pads — over-extended pistons can stick, overheat, or damage seals and dust boots.
- Inspect slide bolts/pins and replace if worn to prevent binding, uneven pad wear, and overheating.
- Flush the brake system to remove contaminants that can damage caliper seals.
- Grease all contact and slide points per manufacturer specs.
- Check axle seals — leaking oil or grease will contaminate pads and reduce braking performance.
After installation:
- Bleed the system thoroughly; trapped air can stop the caliper from applying or releasing.
- Pedal should feel firm. Road test to confirm proper brake operation.
